Grateful to Have Been There by Nell Wing - First Edition from 1992
This is the popular recovery book Grateful to Have Been There by Nell Wing. This is a First Printing from 1992.
Here you can read the Preface to learn more:
“For 25 years, Nell Wing was executive secretary and assistant to Bill W., cofounder of Alcoholics Anonymous. She remained a close friend and long-time companion to Lois W., cofounder of Al-Anon, for 17 more years after Bill's death. "They were my family," she says, and indeed, no one else has approached the warm and close relationship she enjoyed with these two most extraordinary figures.
She worked at the General Service Office of A.A. in New York City, from 1947 until her retirement at the end of 1982, starting as secretary-receptionist, and later serving as secretary to the A.A. World Services, Inc., Board. Later on, she assumed several General Service Conference duties, including the layout and production of the annual Conference Report. She also served several years as publications editor. During the last ten years of her service, she was the archivist for A.A.
No other living person knows more about how Alcoholics Anonymous developed and how it grew. No other living person has been as close and perceptive an observer of the excitement, the turbulence, and the spiritual underpinnings of what may be the most important social movement of the Twentieth Century.
In this book, she shares her memories and impressions of those watershed years.“
