Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition Big Books

The Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition Big Book collection features sixteen printings with the very first printing published in April 1939 up to the sixteenth printing in August 1954. There were various edits and changes to each printing, which makes every version of the Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition Big Book very unique and highly collectible. On average, there were approximately 5,000 copies of each of the early printings released. However, the Seventh Printing from January 1945, did not meet the government mandate to reduce the size of the book and only a few copies were printed. It is estimated that this number is likely around 200 copies. AA did drastically reduce the size of the Eighth Printing, making it the smallest of all Big Books, and released it one month later in February 1945.
