Alcoholics Anonymous Second Edition 8th Printing from 1966 - ODJ
Alcoholics Anonymous – The Big Book
Second Edition, Eighth Printing (with Original Dust Jacket)
Publisher: Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc.
Printing: 8th Printing, 1966 (Dust Jacket notation: 50M–6/66(C))
This is a Second Edition copy of Alcoholics Anonymous, the foundational text of the AA Fellowship. The Eighth Printing (1966) reflects the steady mid-century growth of AA, when membership had surpassed 350,000 worldwide.
The Second Edition, first published in 1955, kept the original text of the Big Book intact while expanding the front matter, adding medical and religious endorsements, and revising the personal stories section to include 37 new case histories—over 110,000 words of new material.
As with all Second Edition copies, the dust jacket includes AA’s well-known anonymity statement:
“If you wish to preserve complete personal anonymity when carrying this book, just turn this jacket inside out. It has been especially designed for your convenience.”
This copy’s dust jacket is identifiable as an Eighth Printing by the code “50M–6/66(C)” printed on the back flap—found only on this printing.
Condition: The book is in very good condition, showing only minor cover wear. Interior pages are clean aside from handwriting on the first page, with no other marks or writing. The original dust jacket is present with edge wear, a tear on the back cover, and a small missing portion, but remains bright and complete.
