This is a 2nd Edition "A Manual for Alcoholics" (The Akron Manual) from the early 1940's, the earliest edition we have ever come across!

This manual was written by Evan W. at the request of Co-Founder Dr. Bob
This edition was only the 2nd printed while Dr. Bob was still alive and an active member of King School Group, the First A.A. Group!
This copy was carefully stored by a collector to avoid oxidation and only recently released for sale. It remains in mint condition!
This is NOT a reproduction which Akron Intergroup continues to sell today

This early 1940's pamphlet clearly states that it was written and edited by members of Alcoholics Anonymous Akron Group No. 1 (first anywhere), and that includes in its ACTIVE membership one of the organization's founders, the FIRST person to accept the program, and a large number of other members whose sobriety dates back to 1935, 1936 and 1937.
This manual is a phenomenal read for the AA member and AA historian. It lays out the process of hospitalizing the prospect, the sponsors' role in sending AA's to tell their stories, the role of the sponsee inside and out of the hospital...how to start carrying the message, suggested readings, a page to get contact info from visitors, etc.
We've included pictures to give a flavor of the reading, but you WILL WANT TO OWN this rare piece of history!
