Her newfound religion not only takes a toll on her friends as she critiques their lifestyles, but the plot comes to a head when we learn that she has been a non-existant figure in the life of her daughter and husband. Crothers play is part cocktail party comedy and part social critique that was eventually turned into a film in 1940 starring Joan Crawford.

Susan and God premiered on Broadway at the Plymouth Theatre in October 1937.”
