Historic 1948 "Grapevine" Signed by Alcoholics Anonymous Co-Founders Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob!

This is the November 1948 edition of the Grapevine, the international journal of Alcoholics Anonymous. The cover of this well-preserved, 32-page publication carries the signatures of three of the most influential figures in A.A. history. Using blue ink, founder Bill Wilson has neatly scripted his full name to the page, with his wife adding "& Lois" immediately after. Just beneath Bill's signature is the incredibly rare autograph, "Dr. Bob."

In the mid-1980s, this copy of the Grapevine was presented to the West Virginia chapter of A.A. Written in purple ink near the top of the front cover is the notation, "Donated By Gene Newland - June 9, 1984." The penmanship, however, is far removed from the important triumvirate of signatures. A similar notation is scripted on the first page of the publication, with a longer description about its dispensation penned on the inside cover. Dr. Bob Smith passed away in 1950; Bill Wilson died in 1971 and his wife Lois (the founder of Al-Anon) passed away in 1989.

This early Grapevine includes Bill W's article on the 12th Tradition. This is a rare Grapevine and to have one signed by Bill W., Lois & Dr. Bob is incredible. Bill generally didn't sign his full name however on occasion when signing for a non-AA he would use his full name.

This Grapevine comes with a Letter of Authenticity for the signatures.
