With 1986 marking the 35th anniversary of the Al-Anon Family Group fellowship, we look back in gratitude to our founders as we tell their stories and at the same time preserve our heritage.

As Lois W., our co-founder, stated at the 1980 International Convention held in New Orleans, Louisiana, "Anyone can start something, but it takes many people to keep it going." Hence, a tribute must also be made to all members of Al-Anon and Alateen for preserving the principles set forth by our pioneers and for assuring a future filled with many FIRST STEPS“
