The Second Edition marked A.A.’s first major revision of its foundational volume. While the basic text (pages 1–165) remains essentially unchanged from the First Edition, the Second Edition expanded and updated the book to reflect the Fellowship’s extraordinary growth and maturing worldwide reach. Updates include revised and enlarged front matter (with an historical sketch), additional recommendations from religion and medicine, a larger Appendix with the A.A.
