Description
This is the 11th Printing of the Second Edition Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book, issued in September 1970 and distinguished by the statement “65M-9/70(C)” printed on the back flap of the dust jacket.
The Second Edition (1955–1976) represented A.A.’s expansion from fewer than 100 members in 1939 to more than 475,000 by 1970. While the first 165 pages of the Big Book remained unchanged, the front matter was updated with historical notes, additional endorsements, and an expanded appendix on the A.A. Tradition. Most significantly, the Personal Stories section was revised and enlarged to include 37 new case histories, offering fresh perspectives for the rapidly growing Fellowship.
The dust jacket also bears the historic anonymity notice:
“If you wish to preserve complete personal anonymity when carrying this book, just turn this jacket inside out. It has been especially designed for your convenience.”
As one of the later Second Edition printings before the Third Edition appeared in 1976, this copy is a desirable collectible for its intact dust jacket and clean, well-preserved condition.
