This little book is dedicated to the God of My Understanding.

Its purpose is to bring various phases of AA philosophy to the arrested alcoholic as interpreted and understood by the author. It is not in any sense official, for AA has no official opinion and each member speaks only for himself.

The author of this poor work is neither a writer nor a scholar. His philosophy is not original and was gleaned from many sources.

This second edition of THE EYE OPENER was occasioned by a continuing demand atter the original printing had been exhausted. This second edition is sponsored by the Old Dominion Group of Alexandria, but neither the writer nor the Group will derive any monetary profit from its sale.

It is published at cost and neither the group nor the author will receive any profit from the publication.

If some heart is made lighter, some home happier or some soul strengthened, we will feel bountifully repaid for our efforts.
