The World That Works is an uncommon post–World War II reflection on global leadership, moral rebuilding, and international cooperation by George West, the Anglican Bishop of Rangoon (Burma). Drawing from his extensive travels across India, Burma, the United States, and Great Britain, West presents a series of essays exploring cultural change, political transformation, wartime leadership, and the possibilities for a more functional and unified world.
This edition includes chapters on Burma during wartime, the tension between old and new empires, observations on American industry, and forward-looking commentaries on world leadership. Of particular note is the inclusion of two appended essays by major global figures:
