The Wife of the Alcoholic: A Pattern to Happiness by Lewis F. Presnall

This book was Published by UTAH ALCOHOLISM FOUNDATION. This book is undated.

Here you can read the Foreword to learn more about this book:

This book is published for those who sincerely wish to improve their way of living. While it is primarily directed to the wives of alcoholics, many men and women who have no connection with the troubles of problem drinking have found help from the suggestions contained in these pages.

The material was originally used in discussions by the Al-Anon Family Group at Silver City, New Mexico. Each talk was recorded on tape. After discussion by the group, the material was edited and transcribed to mimeographed form. The group often indicated the topics which should be presented at succeeding sessions. The criticism of members in this group was invaluable in keeping the material at a practical, therapy-centered level.

Mimeographed copies of the talks have also been used in meetings of some twenty Al-Anon Family Groups in Utah. The responses from members of these groups have given encouragement to the feeling that wider distribution of the talks was justified.

The project of further editing, publication and distribution was then undertaken by the Utah Alcoholism Foundation.

In Chapter II, Part 9, there is a story, "The City of Everywhere." The author of this pointed fantasy is unknown to me. I trust that he will forgive us for reprinting it without his permission.

I would like to express my appreciation to all those wonderful people and organizations who have joined me in this project.

We are each one hopelessly in debt to our fellowman for help we have received in times of trouble. The only way we can partially repay this debt is to extend the hand of understanding, hoping that someone will find the kind of help which we once received.
